FOUR STORIES: GO BEHIND THE SCENE- FILM IT TO WIN IT
Great news!!!
W Hotels and Intel have partnered up to create “FOUR STORIES” a series of four short films to promote Intel’s new Ultrabook as well as our fabulous hotels! One of the films will be shot on site at the W Maldives and the Asian Film Premiere will be held at the W Hong Kong. To further activate the partnership there will be artistic installations showcasing the Ultrabook at 6 W Hotels including the W Singapore and the W Hong Kong. W Hotels around the world will also be installing Ultrabooks for use by guests and talent.
With this, we are very excited to launch the Talent element of our Four Stories partnership by way of a Global Competition!
All W Hotels Talent members as well as Starwood Corporate Associates (including Divisional and Regional office associates) around the world are invited to submit a 30-second video answering the question:
“If your favorite W hotel were a movie, which would it be and why?
W Talent and Starwood Corporate Associates will be competing for an opportunity to win the Grand Prize of complimentary airfare and accommodation to the film premiere happening closest to the winner’s hotel, and three runner-ups will receive a brand new Ultrabook™.
Submissions must be made to Crystal Thomas (Crystal.Thomas@starwoodhotels.com) at the W Global Brand office by no later than 10 October 2012. Submissions can be sent via email or file sharing service.

Hotel Asia Exhibition and Culinary Challenge 2012
Hotel Asia Exhibition and Culinary Challenge 2012, is an event to promote food and beverages, and other supplies for the hotel industry in Maldives, have been inaugurated on the 10th at Dharubaaruge.
While this is the 11th consecutive year and the seventh edition of the event, it is one of the single largest event in the Maldives that showcases food, drink, foodservice, hospitality and hotel equipment.
This year’s event includes international exhibitors from countries India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, China and also from Maldives. Total of 150 booths are on display.
The culinary challenge is one of the highly anticipated events at Hotel Asia where 400 chefs from 40 resorts and hotels take part vying for top honors. Most of the culinary challenge’s 16 categories are spot preparations with simultaneous judging and feedback. Best two chefs from the challenge will get the chance to participate in International Culinary Challenge in Singapore.

Our 7 chefs participated in different catogories and brought home 11 medals.

I’m excited to welcome Ku’ulei ( Ku) Nakanelua, who has joined us at W Maldives in the role of W Insider.
Ku is from Hawaii and brings years of experience as part of the opening team for W San Francisco and W Hollywood in various Roles.

Island Cleaning program organized by Culinary team did a great job today afternoon. more than 30 talents participated in this event, we spring cleaned up our escape area. Free t-shirts and drinks were distributed during the event. Thank you Culinary team for taking the lead and made this event a success.

REEF CLEANING WITH DU
Talents participated in the Reef Cleaning with DU talents on the 4 September, Tuesday afternoon. Free T-Shirts & Drinks were distributed during the event. As our reefs are clean and being well monitored by the DU team at all the time. Therefore we didn't see much waste materials @ the reef. Thank you Tessa and DU team for keeping our reef clean!
ALL TALENT MEETING: 2nd Quarter 2012
Highlights of the Meeting include: A speech from Hotel Manager Laurens, Quah from Revenue spoke about how well we are doing in the business, Natacha from Sales spoke about the new trends in the W Brands and Magalie HR Manager spoke about the on going Renovation projects in W Escape. Meeting was ended by cutting a cake by the Birthday Celebs of the Quarter.
