Maldives to host Akon's aborted Sri Lanka concert
COLOMBO (AFP) – The Maldives stepped in on Tuesday to offer US rap star Akon a replacement concert after his scheduled appearance in Sri Lanka next month was scuttled by protesting Buddhist monks.
"We are very happy he is planning to come and perform," President Mohamed Nasheed's press secretary Mohamed Zuhair told AFP by telephone from the atoll nation.

Samy is back in Wonderland
Samy from our pre-opening team in Welcome department is back in Wonderland to join Welcome Team again. Samy was one of the key member of our team as well as he was a great asset with creative ideas and competitive sports personality when he was in W before. W LOVE EARTH HOUR LIKE NO OTHER
It was Earth Hour like no other-- certainly the W way! Talents gather at the candlelit COURTYARD don with the limited edition W Earth Hour signature black shirt. As 8:30 PM ticked, all lights and power were put off and the W talents showed their power with the Bodubero drums and traditional jolly chants. Drinks were served, talents were displayed! It was a night of discovery-- an inspiration for everyone to further care for mother earth and nurturing hidden talents.

W Talent, do you still remember 08-08-08?
We have decided to tell you the story of W-Inner as we are frequently receiving questions about the beginning of the W-inner blog!
Even though we celebrate our talent club anniversary on 08-08-08; W-INNER was actually operating independently and WoWing talents since April 2007. We began as part of the promotion campaign for the first ever mini-Olympics in April 2007 by printing single paged pamphlets which was then sent via e-mail or posted on noticed boards in Escape Area. There were 4 issues of these pamphlets issues; however, while designing our 2nd edition we came up with the idea for a blog. This idea seemed extremely viable as more people would be able to access it and blogs archive capability offered the perfect solution for eco friendly publication with the ability to access past articles for future references. Plus we had a limited time for pamphlet preparation and printing after work. Our Welcome Talent, Naadhu was the mastermind and co-founder Lirar from Finance. Then W-inner was the insider who brought the talents all the hot gossips and entertaining stories. Later, due to W-inners growing membership and influence, W-inner approached HR department to make it the official Talent Club and discontinue the Fun Club that was almost inactive at that time. That’s when 08-08-08 became the official inaugural date for W-inner.

Hi fellow Talented Talents, Let's not wait for the Earth Hour only! Let's not be too lazy to switch off our room lights, TV, AC when the room is empty. Not only our rooms TV, all the AC's and lights should be off during the time when we are not using our Nook. Talent Rooms, Nook and Escape Area is done! We also demand each and everyone who is working in our offices to shut down their computers, office lights, office AC's when all the offices are empty at the end of the day. Should we stop now? No way, W-INNER is going green supporting save the planet. We should not switch off just because of the Earth Hour. Instead, we have to make sure we switch off everyday. Every switch cost energy! The more we waste energy the more we are destroying our Earth!
Unique beat Big Brothers in a uniQue style
Unique City won today's friendly football match against Big Brothers in a uniQue style. Big Brothers dominated the first few minutes of the game and even scored their first goal by Yasir, but Unique came behind and level the score. The game changed its course few minutes after Unique level and scored 2 more goals back to back where we saw Big Brothers were unable to organize their team when Unique dominated in a uniQue way of style. First half ended 3 goals to 1 Unique leading the game. And it was a goalless as well as a physical game in the second half with few yellow cards from the match official. Way to go Unique City a well deserved win.

The F&B Team deserved this blast of an outing after the many months of hardcore teamwork whether on usual daily cooking and serving routines to the challenging culinary specials, functions, and events. Normally one will say i can do this and that even if it they cant! But Samos is not like that, Just after dinner last night Samos came to Game Zone area and while having chit chats he said he can run around the game zone area for 45 minutes without stopping when he saw Yam jogging. Suddenly those who were there at that time Abbas, Ubachan, Irushad, Waseem and others clearly denied saying that would be impossible for Samos as he never play soccer or run even workout in gym. The whole conversation then went on and where Samos was so confident of what he said and others were even betting on it. Finally Samos said he will prove it after his duty around 12:15AM
Samos accepted the challenge against all his fellow talents and later send out a text message to all which says "Don't miss my magic show at court yard at 00:15am tonight". Wow, what a challenge and willpower from Samos! Many talents started gathering court area around 12:00am to see his 45 minute run saying it would be impossible and don't try to convince something you can't do. With all the challenges and against all his fellow talents Samos started stretching after a glass of water. In front of all gathered to witness this he started running on 12:15am, after that he never looked back or said a word before 47 minuts and 18 second. Abbas was checking the stop watch. Samos has done it and he has proved he can run even though others don't think he in good shape to make a 45 minutes lap. Well done Samos and W-INNER's Tip of the Hat Wag of the Finger goes to non other than Samos for his great challenge of 45 minute run.

Never be forgotten
Yes. It will never be forgotten and will always be recognized. As we all have seen few days ago we had a fantastic fund raising event which touched so many lives of Haitians. and we have also seen the news spreading all around the world about the excellent job we done here on the small island in the middle of Indian Ocean. W Retreat & Spa Maldives means a lot’. We always do things different and we do things in style no matter what it is. We’re in it to Win it.
Yes it was remarkable event to help Haitians. But what about things we do to enjoy our self. “LET IT BE 09’ or 2009 Year End party. I was there when we did the preparation and guess what’ I was impressed too for what we managed to show our self after the final touch.
One thing you can never forget is every time you do an enormous job (let’s called it Excellent +), our management comes out and recognizes what you do. Likewise those who were on the front line of the above mentioned two events has been recognized last evening with the ceremony held at FIRE Restaurant hosted by our Complex General Manager Mr. David Martens. A letter of appreciation and certificates were handed over to each and every one who led their team and those who put individual efforts and the ceremony finished with the delicious dinner. This shows us our incredible TEAM work’ and I must say we could not have succeeded without our greatest ever HR team who always support our ideas and gives their full support.

Munnawwar joins Little B Club
With the new changes brought in to the Little B Clubs management it seems like they're gearing up for the upcoming W Olympics tournament. For the first thing also they've shaken Touch Club where touch clubs most promising striker Munawwar quit and Joined LBC. According to Munawwar the reason why he left the club was lack of first team call up. "it seems like same people have to play every match for the touch club" Munawwar said to W-INNER. but few days back there was a rumor spreading that touch club is about to introduce their B Team.
